Elbert Fire Protection District Ballot Issue 7B

Elbert Fire Protection District is respectfully going to the voters for a new Mill Levy request this November election.  The timeframe of the increase would be for 25 years and dedicated to capital improvements for stations and equipment. With the current and rising cost of construction building materials, the cost of equipment repairs and replacement, and the current and foreseeable growth, the district has done all it can with the available funds.

In 2014, Elbert Fire Protection District asked the community for help to do improvements within the district with a mill levy.  Because of the approval of that mill levy, the district fulfilled each promise made to the community.  Those promises included two sub stations (Station 233, which is located west of Elbert on County Road 98 just west of County Road 5 and Station 232, which is located east of Elbert on County Road 68 and County Road 98), daytime personnel, staffed by two Firefighter/EMTs who are available to respond to all emergency calls.  Additionally, the district installed two water cisterns within the district providing better water access where hydrants are not available.

This mill levy request includes funds for a new station 1 within the town of Elbert.  A new station 1 would improve firefighter health and safety conditions and fulfill the new operational requirements for firefighters centered around updated national standards all while being energy efficient.  Also, funding would go towards replacing out-of-date equipment. A new station 1 will include a community room available for public access and use.  In addition, a new station located on the southeast side of the district to provide better coverage to Commanche Creek Ranches, Hideaway Ranches, Peyton Pines, and the southeast end of County Line Road.
